DECA Calendar

What is DECA according to our Chapter Advisor Mrs. Charlton?

DECA is an association of Marketing and Business Students. This academic curricular organization provides and opportunity for students to take their knowledge outside of the classroom and compete in their field of interest. There are over 30 competitive areas, ranging from Business Law and Ethics to Fashion Merchandising to Marketing Research. As road scholars students compete at conference forums in Northern, California, Southern California and Internationally. Students compete for recognition awards and scholarships that are recognized by major corporations and colleges across the nation.

The DECA program gives the students an extensive traveling and networking opportunity that can not be taught in the classroom.

"Arroyo DECA... we don't just bring the real world into the classroom we bring students into the real world!!"

*This program is open to ALL Arroyo Students that are enrolled in the Marketing Economics and or Business Tech (Business Ownership) Classes.

Welcome to Arroyo's DECA page!

More than 60 years ago, DECA organized around an ambitious goal: to improve education and career opportunities for students interested in careers in marketing, management and entrepreneurship. What began with a few hundred students in 17 states has grown to over 185,000 students in all 50 states, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, Germany and Mexico.

DECA’s objective is to support the development of marketing and management skills in career areas such as hospitality, finance, sales and service, business administration and entrepreneurship. Programs and activities are tailored to the specific career interest of students and include technical skills, basic scholastic and communication skills, human relations and employability skills, and a strong emphasis on economics and free enterprise.

DECA provides recognition and leadership activities directly related to attainment of specific occupational and leadership skills. DECA’s mission establishes clear criteria for its programs and activities.

The mission of DECA, Inc. is to enhance the co–curricular education of students with interest in marketing, management and entrepreneurship. DECA helps students to develop skills and competence for marketing careers, to build self–esteem, to experience leadership and to practice community service. DECA is committed to the advocacy of marketing education and the growth of business/education partnerships.

DECA Student of the Week-11/30

George's leadership throughout meetings and lunch events were a great contribution for DECA, also his outstanding attendance reports and preparedness really got DECA's leadership going with useful ideas for abig year for Arroyo's chapter. George's hardwork and dedication to showing up to meetings (late or not, or with his sandwich still in hand) he always has a reasonable excuse and big smile to get DECA's V.P's on the right start for reaching goals!

Congrats again George,

See you manana at the meeting, bright and early! If your even there!=P
