Personal Family Counseling Services

 

For many students, there are times when life's problems seem to be overwhelming, making it difficult to focus on school. Some of the issues affecting students include relationships, family, friends, drugs, alcohol, depression, grief, stress, and even thoughts of suicide.

Arroyo High School's counselors are available to help students deal with personal issues. Arroyo counselors can provide:

  • Individual counseling to discuss personal problems
  • Information for students on topics related to mental health
  • Crisis intervention counseling
  • Parent conferences
  • Resources for parents with questions about adolescent developmental issues

If the counselor feels that a student would be helped by more intensive services,  she will refer the student and their family to the appropriate provider. Arroyo High School offers free onsite counseling for students who have Medi-Cal.  Sometimes the student's family has counseling resources available through their health care provider (like Kaiser).
